Molex Introduces New Low Profile Lite-TrapTM SMT Wire-to-Board Connector System

Easy-to-use push-button latch allows for simple field assembly and disassembly for manufacturers of slimline LED lighting.
(SINGAPORE - October 23, 2014) Molex Incorporated has introduced a new Lite-TrapTM SMT (surface mount technology) wire-to-board connector system with a small form factor for slim LED lighting module applications. The push-button connector is only 4.20mm high, making it one of the smallest form factors on the market today and offering the lowest wire insertion force compared to detachable wire style connectors.

The Lite-Trap connector termination method is similar to the widely used Molex Wire Trap connector, and also similar to certain specific "probe" type products, but requires less wire insertion force. Stripped wires can be inserted into the connector and then pushed to open the dual-contact, gated terminal design, which "catches" the wire to provide strong electrical contact and high wire retention. Lite-Trap connectors also feature an easy-to-use latch design that allows operators to easily plug and unplug without the use of any tools. These features allow for convenient field assembly and disassembly when needed, and can even be used immediately by untrained technicians.
Other features of the Molex Lite-Trap connectors include longer wire insulation designed for stable wire positioning to further ensure contact effectiveness, and an innovative wire locking feature to help insert wires to the correct depth.
